During this event we discussed the ever-changing guidance and regulation and what is the best practice to designing out fire risk in high-rise residential buildings?

We were joined by industry experts to discuss the current materials and labour shortages challenging construction and how to overcome this challenge while meeting the required standards.


Construction's Carbon Dilemma: Why, When and How?


Sustainability and climate change continue to be key topics within the construction industry globally.  The UK Government has set out to achieve an 80% reduction in greenhouse emissions by 2050. It is estimated that 25% of carbon emissions come from homes and a further 17% from non-domestic buildings, so a decision was made to improve energy efficiency in every household. 


How Fire Safety might change construction in the next few years?


Fire Safety is an essential yet complex area all builders must address. As high-rise development increases so does the chances of fire hazards. In recent times, London has some of the worst high-rise building fires. This ultimately led to the widely known Hackitt Report.

Bridging the Gap between Design & Build 



There is a gulf between the design and construction companies on a building project and the operations managers who take over the end-product. This can occur when information isn't properly defined at the outset because designers, contractors and manufacturers don't have a specific brief as to what's required of them.

The pandemic has undoubtedly been a challenge for the industry but it is a catalyst for change. The impact technology, modern construction methods and digital transformation have had on this industry during the past year, will be acknowledged for years to come.

A Debate on Laminate Glass

Since the Combustible Cladding Ban was announced in July 2019, there has been an ongoing debate around the role of laminate glass in/on residential buildings. Laminate glass does have a case around its reduced risk of injury from breakage. This event in our series is a formal debate around laminate glass and its role in high-rise residential living, an in-depth discussion with a number of industry leaders. 

MMC: The Thrust Behind Construction

This event in our series is focused on Modern Methods of Construction and how it is a thrust behind modernisation and efficiency within the industry. 

Digital: An Accelerator to Construction

In this event we focused on digital technologies within the construction industry and their impact on accelerating the industry output.

This event focused on the future of residential construction in Dublin and identifying key needs within the Dublin market. We explored Irish industry perspectives on the future of residential construction in Dublin and understanding how home building can grow in the years to come.

Future of construction Post Pandemic

This event focused on understanding a range of industry perspectives on the future of construction post COVID-19. We look to explore the consequences the pandemic has had or will have, such as resident demands for more private outdoor space as a result of the more to working from home.  

We also aimed to recognise the role factors such as offsite and modern methods of construction play in increasing efficiency within the industry.

Reducing Fire Risk and the Golden Thread

We explored the role the "Golden Thread" of information has on reducing risk through traceability and a consistent thread of up-to-date information to bridge the gap between design and construction.


Building into 2021 and Learning from 2020

2020 has been a tumultuous year and the impact of COVID has been seen in most industries, construction included. At this virtual event we heard from a number of industry professionals on their learnings from 2020 and how they aim to make 2021 a success. 

We explored emerging trends which will increase success in 2021 to ensure construction continues to design and build top quality homes in a bid to decrease the housing shortages in the UK and Ireland.
