BSI - Introduction to BS 8579:2020 Guide to the design of balconies and terraces

Virtual Event | 06 October 2020 10:00AM

Balconies and terraces are becoming increasingly popular as a way to give building occupants outside space – yet there’s been a lack of consensus in the UK on their optimum design.

To address this, the BSI have produced the webinar -  BS 8579:2020 - Guide to the design of balconies and terraces. This free webinar is being held to introduce the new standard.

Participants will hear from expert speakers about key aspects of the standard. There will be presentations on: enclosure and arrangement of balconies, wind effects, inclusive design, structural and mechanical stability and integrity, fire performance, weathering and hydraulic design. The event will conclude with a Q&A session.

What will I learn?

During this event we will explore:

  •  An increased understanding and awareness of BS 8579

  • New information and ideas about balcony and terrace design

  • An opportunity to ask questions and network with sector peers

  • A post-event recording of the webinar and copy of the presentations
